I've looked around and haven't really seen any decent guides for Berzerker, so I thought I would make one. Before I do that though, I want to say most of this stuff is my opinion. I am not an expert at this game yet, but I have played many MMO's and most have the same concepts.
Table of Contents
Berzerkers concentrate almost exclusively on causing physical damage. Berzerkers still wear light armor, which gives them decent defense against physical attacks; however they are extremely susceptible to magical damage. Usually Berzerkers are found in the middle of a fight, never on its edges. Several Berzerker skills focus on weakening targets in terms of speed and/or defense.
Attack Type: Physical Damage
Strengths: High physical damage, medium level of health and armor
Weaknesses: Low magic defense and evasion
Strong VS: Heretics, Slayers
Weak VS: Magus, Champions
Equipment: Dual Welding Weapons, Light Armors
Attributes: Strength, Vitality
II. Stat Points
After you reach level 20, you gain two points every level to distribute into one of the following stats...
Vitality Increases health and health regeneration
Spirit Increases spirit and spirit regeneration
Strength Increases attack power and accuracy
Intelligence Increases magic power and critical rate
Dexterity Increases evasion, accuracy, and critical
III. Builds
There are a few different builds you can try, each have there own strengths and weaknesses. Since you only gain two stat points per level, there shouldn't be a huge difference. At no point in any build do Berzerkers need Spirit or Intelligence.
Full Strength Add stat points to strength stat only. One of the more popular builds, this build focuses purely on your damage. Strength adds 1 damage and 1 accuracy per point, so you don't really need to worry about missing your target. A lot of skills use a percentage of your base damage for power.
Strengths: High Damage, High Skill Damage, High Accuracy
Weaknesses: Less health
1 Strength, 1 Vitality Add one point to strength and one to vitality. This build increases your health for a little cost in your damage. This is more for people that want to act as a secondary tank.
Strengths: More Health, Faster Health Regeneration
Weaknesses: Less Damage, Less Accuracy
3 Strength, 1 Vitality (Based on every two levels) Add three points to strength and one to vitality every two levels. This is for those that want a little more health while keeping a strong damage.
Strengths/Weaknesses: A mixture between the Full Strength and 1 Strength, 1 Vitality builds
Dexterity There are some builds you could include some dexterity, but it isn't worth it. Dexterity will increase your evasion, but not by a lot. You already get accuracy from strength, so no reason for this stat either. Last it increases your critical strike, but from what i hear it takes a lot of points to increase critical strike just by one percent. Not really worth the points put into it.
IV. Gears
This is very simple and for the most part applies to every class. Wear either the sets Knight's Jail or Soul Gear.
Knight's Jail Gear
Starting at level 20 you can enter Knight's Jail up to five times per day. Each time you complete it, you gain some stamps that can be traded for gears. The lowest level gear you can trade for is level 30, and then there are new sets every 15 levels. Make sure to save your stamps because each part of gear requires its own number of stamps; and when you start to get to higher gear sets, they cost more stamps.
Soul Gear
The other type of gear that many hunt for is Soul Gear. Soul gear can first be obtained at level 45 by competing in the Dragon Emperor's Catacomb. You may do this event three times a day and there is only a chance that you'll get the gears you need. After that there are other events to get Soul Gears every 15 levels.
Some normal gears from quests are fine at lower levels, but wearing sets gives you extra stats to make you stronger. When you wear a gear set, it gives you bonuses for every two pieces that you wear. So try to wear sets of gears if you can.
V. Gems
There are two main types of gems you will want to add to your gears
Attack Gems
Add attack gems to your gears to give you insane damage. Berzerkers already have high damage, but adding attack gems will put it through the roof.
Health Gems
Add health gems to your gears to give some massive health. Berzerkers have decent health to begin with, but having high health will make you tough to kill.
VI. Pets
Pets gain two stat points every level after level one; they also passively gain some stats you have no control of. Pets attack either as physical or magic so make sure you add the right add to the right stats. The type of pet is entirely up to your personal preference.
Vitality Pet Has a very large amount of health; can take several hits like they're nothing. They have low damage compared to some other kinds of pets. Main Stats:
Strength
Dexterity
Spirit Pet Very large amount of spirit; good pet for spamming skills. They too have low damage, but also can't take many hits. Main Stats:
Intelligence
Dexterity
Strength Pet Strength Pets are like the berzerkers of pets. With them you'll mainly add strength, but unlike berzerkers they don't receive accuracy from strength, so you'll need to add some dexterity every few levels if you want them to hit the target. Main Stats:
Strength
Dexterity
Intelligence Pet These are like the magus class, a magic damage dealer. Focus on Intelligence to deal damage and adds some critical strike. A high damage team when teamed up with berzerker. Main Stats:
Intelligence
Dexterity
Dexterity Pet This pet has very high evasion and accuracy with a decent critical rate. It is also the only pet I've seen to have both physical and magical attack types.
